Question by goldfishvase: Wasp helicopter won't take off. Any suggestions?
It's one of the little remote control helicopters. It's got power and the rotors go round but it just spins on the floor rather than taking off. It did work when we had it and he flew it a few times (and also crashed it a few times!) but nothing appears to be broken or out of line. Any ideas?

Take it back and get another, there is probably something damaged inside the motor. Really annoying i know but the crashing needs to stop

I assume that you have tried the appropriate trim control on the transmitter and that both main and tail rotors are firmly fixed to their shafts. If that has not worked then I’m afraid you have to regard this sort of thing as disposable. They are not guaranteed to be crash-proof, and there is absolutely no reason why a shop should take it back after it has been crashed, particularly if it did fly correctly once. As far as repairing it goes, you need to take the bodywork off and look inside. You may find that some of the gearwheels have missing teeth, which would upset the balance between the rotors. Spare rotor blades are available, but not spare gears, unfortunately. If you look at the electronic block you may find an adjustable element which may help the tail trim, so you could try a screwdriver on that. Otherwise the only possible experiment is to cut a little bit off the appropriate rotor. If the ground spin is to the left, try cutting a bit off the main rotor (equally on each blade). If the spin is to the right, try cutting all 3 blades of the tail rotor equally.
