Question by wholesale2retail2u: Importing into Europe/customs and excise?
Hollo everyone.
My questions are:If I am importing half a 20ft container load
of stuff into Europe which I plan to sell in the future, not straight away,do I have to be a registered business or will my name be
good enough on the bill of lading form?
Can I ask my supplier to have my order delivered from
China to my front door, therefore I wouldnt have to worry about
customs?
Do remote control cars helicopters etc need ce certificates.
Hollo Sultan.
When you say personally guarantee the shipment, would CIF(cost, insurance and
freight)be good enough?
You said my order can be delivered to my door. Can I empty the container and
send it back with the lorry?
Could you give me a rough idea how
much it would cost to deliver my order from the port to my house,it is about
10 miles distance.
Thankyou.

"do I have to be a registered business or will my name be

Yes you can do it privately as long as you personally guarantee the shipment.

It can come to your door, if you have space for a container at your house. However it will have to be cleared by customs first and then trans shipped by haulier to your premises.
Containers are also security checked since they're prime targets for people traffickers.

Check with customs or with a freight forwarding agent. The rules change all the time, especially with stuff from China.
