I have seen a lot of servos fry when a 7.4 lipo receiver pack was used. The cure was always a regulator.

There are servos out there that can handle 7.4 volts, but a fully charged 7.4 volt lipo comes in at 8.4 volts. Too much for most servos.

If you want to use a lipo i really recommend a regulator. One of my racing buddies gets about 2 hours total time from the 7.4v lipo receiver pack he uses in his Losi 8ight-T
